Anaretic Jupiter in Aries 2023

Anaretic Jupiter in Aries 2023 - The Dark Pixie Astrology

Transit (moving) Jupiter is gearing up to exit Aries in a few weeks, and will move into Taurus in mid-May 2023. Jupiter stays in Taurus for the rest of 2023, but before Jupiter enters Taurus, it'll be anaretic for a few days. What does this mean?

What is Jupiter in astrology?

Jupiter is the lucky planet, and its base energy is expansion in astrology. It's optimistic, it wants to focus on the good, and it sees the big picture. In the natal chart, natal Jupiter can show where you can expand in your life, where you need space, where you're optimistic, and where you see the big picture.

In transit, transit Jupiter often brings opportunities for new experiences and expansion. Transit Jupiter opens up possibilities in your life, and you can get out there and get excited by what is in front of you now.

Since Jupiter is the happy planet, it's very easy to use to your advantage. The only issue is, we can feel so good that we get lazy about it and end up missing out.

What is the anaretic degree in astrology?

There are 30 degrees in every Zodiac sign, 360 degrees total (30 x 12). 29 degrees is the last degree of each Zodiac sign, and is called the anaretic degree as it has very high energy.

In the natal chart, the bodies at the anaretic degree have super heightened energy, and this is usually overwhelming and scary so we avoid it (though some go in the opposite direction and play it up too much, to their detriment).

In transit, the anaretic degree is crisis energy. This is usually significant and sometimes traumatizing, but with Jupiter, it's not quite so bad (though this one may certainly bring something significant!).

Jupiter will be anaretic in Aries May 12th - 16th 2023.

Anaretic Jupiter in Aries Impact:

Jupiter is the happy planet, so anaretic Jupiter usually isn't so bad, unlike other planets (like Pluto). Instead, we're hyperfocused on expansion, new experiences, and opportunities, and we can push to make things happen as quickly as possible before we miss out.

In Aries, this may mean we're extra impulsive and impatient, and don't think things through before we take action. This can put us in a bind, and we really need to make sure we're controlling ourselves and have clean motivations.

This period does come with Mercury retrograde, appearing to move backward in the sign of Taurus. Mercury retrograde ends in the middle of anaretic Jupiter in Aries on May 14th 2023, but we can still feel it for a little while longer. This adds to frustrations and wanting to be impulsive, but we need to be smart with whatever we do. If we haven't done our homework, then jumping to action may be the wrong thing to do, and it's better if we're informed first.

The super wild thing with this period is it will trigger the April 20th Aries solar eclipse, which occurred at 29 degrees Aries, the anaretic degree in Aries. With transit Jupiter crossing over this significant position, Jupiter is lighting up that eclipse. Whatever that eclipse is doing for you and has triggered for you may see some developments when Jupiter is anaretic in Aries.

I kept saying that the March 21st Aries new moon got us started with this energy, and whatever was begun with that new moon may see culminations, results, or progress during this anaretic period. We may have been stalled with the Mercury retrograde kicking in April, but Jupiter has one last parting gift before exiting Aries and wants to bestow some progress on us.

We still have to be smart and avoid being impulsive or letting frustrations get the better of us, but if we can do that, we can see this period as being really significant for helpful developments.

This is especially important for anyone who has a natal planet, angle, or other body at the anaretic degree. It doesn't matter the Zodiac sign; I find with the anaretic degree, the aspect doesn't matter, just being at that degree is enough. If that's you, you'll want to give extra focus to whatever that point rules in your natal chart and try to expand, explore, and experience.

For everyone, look to the house in your natal chart 29 degrees Aries falls. The areas of life ruled by that house can be where expansion and opportunity is focused. Good luck!
